Emraan Hashmi was born on March 24, 1979 to Anwar Hashmi and Maherahh Hashmi in Mumbai. Filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt are Emraan’s maternal uncles while actor turned writer-director-producer is his cousin. Emraan Hashmi attended the Maneckji Cooper Trust High School and later graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai.
Emraan Hashmi started his career as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt during the filming of superhit films like ‘Raaz’ starring Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu and ‘Kasoor’ starring Aftab Shivdasani and Lisa Ray. Though Emraan was never very keen on pursuing acting as a career, he thought on giving it a shot on the advice of his uncle Mukesh Bhatt.
Emraan Hashmi was first seen in ‘Footpath’ alongside Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu and Rahul Dev. Though the film bombed at the box office, Emraan was appreciated for his debut performance, His first box office hit was the Bhatt’s ‘Murder’ opposite Mallika Sherawat. Best remembered for Emraan- Mallika’s sultry love making scenes, the film became a huge success and Emraan became popular for his kissing sequences in films that followed.

Brushing aside all the kissing controversies and link ups with female co-stars, Emraan Hashmi married long time Sindhi girlfriend Parveen Shahani. Parveen was a school teacher and the two dated for around four and a half years before finally tying the knot in 2007. The couple is blessed with a son named Ayaan.
