Pritey Zinta known for her innocent looks and a vivacious smile is one of the most successful actresses of the Indian film industry. Hailing from the ‘Queen of Hills’- Shimla, Priety Zinta was born on 31st Jauary 1975. Priety’s father Durganand Zinta was an Indian Army Officer who passed way in a fatal accident while her mother survived multiple injuries. Her elder brother Deepankar works for the Indian Army while the younger one Manish is settled in California.
Extremely brilliant at academics, Priety Zinta attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Shimla and later earned her English Honours degree from St. Bede’s College. She joined Bombay University to study Criminal Psychology. She appeared on the screen with a TV commercial for Perk chocolates; however she was noticed in the Liril TV commercial by Shekhar Kapoor.
The notable film director Shekhar Kapoor offered her ’Tara Rum Pum’ opposite Hrithik Roshan. The project could not take off and she made her debut in Mani Ratnam’s critically acclaimed ‘Dil Se’. Priety Zinta played a supporting role with Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala in ‘Dil Se’. Priety Zinta won her first Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nomination for ‘Dil Se’.

Her next film in a leading role was ‘Soldier’ opposite Bobby Deol that became a huge success and also won her the best debut award at Filmfare Awards Ceremony. Priety was next seen in Telugu films, namely ‘Premante Idera’ and ‘Raja Kumarudu’. Priety Zinta worked with Akshay Kumar in Tanuja Chandra’s ‘Sangharsh’ wherein she portrayed the character of a CBI officer. Priety Zinta featured as the female lead in blockbuster hits ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’. All the three movies were huge commercial successes and featured an ensemble star cast. Despite the presence of a number of stars, Priety Zinta made an impeccable mark with her exemplary performance. Her science fiction film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ won numerous awards while she received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for Karan Johar’s ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’.
Priety Zinta successfully portrayed the characters of a TV journalist in ‘Lakshya’ and a schizophrenic wife in ‘Armaan’. Priety Zinta in partnership with ex-boyfriend and businessman Ness Wadia owns Kings XI Punjab, the Mohali based T-20 cricket team participating in the IPL championship. Priety Zinta was honoured with Godfrey's Mind of Steel Award showing the courage to stand against the Mumbai Underworld.
