An ace fashion designer, an author and a global citizen, Ritu Beri is the first Asian designer to head the popular French fashion brand, Scherrer. Born and brought up in New Delhi, Ritu Beri graduated from the Delhi University and later joined National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. Affiliated to the reputed F.I.T of New York, NIFT is the premiere fashion school in India. Ritu Beri was selected among the first batch of twenty five students to study at NIFT.

Ritu Beri started with designing clothes for herself, her friends and family and later plunged into professional fashion designing with her brand called ‘Lavanya’. Her maiden collection won rave reviews and was instantly sold. Her spectacular designs reflect the rich culture and heritage of India. She is famed for her extremely elegant and funky feminine designs.
Ritu Beri has certainly created a niche for herself in the fashion industry that is not only appealing to the conservative Indians but also the modern and glamorous women of today. She excels at creating traditional as well as contemporary attires to suit the needs and likes of her target customers. Ritu Beri has designed for many international celebrities and has displayed her collection at many reputed fashion fiestas. She has also designed for Indian counterpart in the Olympics’ curtain Raiser ceremony at Atlanta. Ritu Beri stated that it was a great honor as well as a challenge to design for the Indian contingent.
Ritu Beri started designing for London’s Regent Street and Liberty and then she received training from Francois Lesage, master creator and embroiderer in Paris. In 1995, Ritu Beri launched another label ‘Sanskrit’ inspired from the royal and regal cultural heritage of India. The splendid creations were appreciated all over the globe and her label ‘Sanskriti ’ was later bought by France Luxury Group, Sherrer.
The acclaimed designer is the only Indian fashion designer to be featured in Acustyl, a promostyl's magazine that forecasts fashion trends all over the globe. She serves on the board of Governors at NIFT and is also associated with an NGO called Savera that works for the improvement of the lives of Indian Women. Ritu Beri is the author of 101 Ways to Look Good, a personal fashion book and 'Firefly-A Fairy Tale', about her journey in the fashion world from New Delhi to New York and Mumbai to Paris. ‘Firefly- A Fairy Tale’ was supposed to be published by Penguin India, however later discarded the project when they heard the price for the book Ritu had in mind. 'Firefly-A Fairy Tale', priced at Rs. 1,00,000 was sold at Ritu’s store in Delhi and at the Louis Vuitton flagship store near Champs Elysee in Paris.
Ritu Beri’s international clientele features former US president Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, Moulin Rouge, Nicole Kidman, Andy McDowell, Laetitia Casta, Ivana Trump, Urusual Andress, The Swarovski family, Elizabeth Jagger and Jerry Hall. She has also designed for Indian celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Neha Dhupia, Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Vidya Balan, Hema Malini, Shahnaz Hussain, Sonal Mansingh, Parmeshwar Godrej & Shobha De.
Extremely compassionate about animals, Ritu Beri initiated a project called 'Caring means sharing' that raises funds for animal care and welfare. She has introduced an exclusive line of products to fulfil her humanitarian endeavour. This collection includes T-shirts, caps, stuffed toys, notepads, posters, postcards, pens and keychains.
Ritu Beri tied the nuptial knot to her long-time friend & industrialist Bobby Chadha in 2004 and the couple is blessed with a daughter named Jiya.
