Some important steps regarding saree maintenance

   
 

As we know that saree is the traditional symbol of Indian women. It represents the culture of true Indian women. That is why sarees are not only popular outfit among the people of India but also around the globe. It is desire to every woman to look beautiful. Sarees are the most common mean to make them more beautiful and elegant. Sarees usually range in prices from the cheaper to the expensive ones. Hence sarees once purchased, need proper maintenance in order to improve their life time. Saree maintenance is an important issue now a day among the women of India. So that is why we need to pay some attention to saree maintenance. There are some simple steps included in the saree maintenance. These steps are as follows.

The first step in saree maintenance is storing them at appropriate place. The place or the cabinet where you are going to store your saree must be dry and cool. But it would be better if you store the saree in the hanging position. But if you still feel any kind of need to store sarees in form of folds then the folds of the saree must be changed with in the month. Before changing the folds, spread the saree on the bed or on the flat surface for some time.

There is important step in saree maintenance, when we talk about the washing procedure. Don’t use any kind of soap at least in the first three times. After that you can use, but if you use a good quality detergent. It will be good for the life of sarees. Try to wash the pallu of saree, border of saree and the body of saree must be washed separately. The saree should be washed separately in the plenty of cold water. Hot water can affect the embroidery and material embossed in the saree. Don’t use any kind of bleaching material. This will damage the fabric of saree. And also try to not to use any kind of brush or something that causes damage to the zari work.

After washing the saree, drying is the first priority that should be done to improve the life of saree. And it is an important step of saree maintenance. When you have done with washing, moisture should be removed immediately. This will increase the strength of fibre. For this purpose you can even use towel. Direct Contact of sunlight with the saree must be avoided.

There are different types of stains. Lipstick stains, grease stains and gum stains are some important examples of stains. To treat each of these, one must need separate re-agents depending upon the type of stain. Petrol is used for the hard stains. Acetone can be used for stains of nail polish. Special types of fluids are available in market for lipstick stains. And talc can be used for stains of grease.

These are some important point regarding saree maintenance. If you follow these series of simple and normal steps then you can easily assure long life of your saree. The saree maintenance doesn’t require any special cost. It only needs your attention.
