Shatrughan Sinha is an eminent Indian actor turned politician. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party and serves as the head of the Culture and Arts Department of BJP. Moreover he was the first Indian actor to become a cabinet minister responsible for the Ministry of Health and later the Ministry of Shipping.
Shatrughan Sinha was born on July 15, 1946 in Patna, Bihar and attended the Film and Television Institute of India Pune. Shatrughan Sinha is married to Poonam and they have three children, a daughter Sonakshi Sinha and twin sons Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha. Sonakshi Sinha is a model and is expected to make her acting debut this year. She is playing the female lead opposite superstar Salman Khan in ‘Dabangg’ directed by Abhinav Kashyap. ‘Dabangg’ is produced by Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan and also stars Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood, Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. Shatrughan Sinha’s son Luv Sinha recently made his Bollywood debut in Raj Kanwar’s ‘Sadiyaan’ also starring Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Rekha. Shatrughan Sinha is close friends with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and Kannada superstar Ambarish.

Shatrughan Sinha, popularly known as Shotgun and Shatru made his Bollywood debut in ‘Sajan’ followed by supporting roles in ‘Khilona’, ‘Prem Pujari’, ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Dost Aur Dushman’, ‘Bhai Ho To Aisa’ and ‘Bombay to Goa’. He earned immense appreciation for his performance in a negative role in Manmohan Desai’s ‘Raampur Ka Lakshman’ starring Rekha and Randhir Kapoor. Shatrughan Sinha later starred in blockbuster films like Harmesh Malhotra’s ‘Amar Shakti’ alongside Shashi Kapoor, Basu Chaterjee’s ‘Dillagi’ alongside Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Shaan’ alongside Sunil Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Raakhee Gulzar, Parveen Babi and Bindiya Goswami, Manoj Kumar’s ‘Kranti’ also starring Dilip Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Parveen Babi and Dulal Guha’s ‘Dost’ alongside Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
Shatrughan Sinha played a pivotal role in Rajkumar Kohli’s multistarrer thriller ‘Jaani Dushman’, also starring Sunil Dutt, Sanjeev Kumar, Vinod Mehra, Rekha, Reena Roy, Neetu Singh, Bindiya Goswami and Jeetendra. Shatrughan Sinha received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor nomination for Yash Chopra’s ‘Kala Patthar’. Renowned for his strong onscreen presence and the ‘Khamosh’ trademark, Shatrughan Sinha was honored with the ‘Pride of the Film Industry’ and lifetime Achievement Award at the stardust Awards.
