The scintillating starlet of Bollywood, Sridevi is a well known actress, artist and film producer. Sridevi was born on 13th August 1963 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu to lawyer father Ayyapan and mother Rajeswari. Sridevi has worked in over two hundred films, sixty three in Hindi and the rest in regional languages including Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Sridevi is married to film producer Boney Kapoor, son of Surinder Kapoor and brother of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi. Boney was earlier married to Mona Shourie Kapoor and has two children Arjun and Anshula. Sridevi received innumerable marriage proposals from prosperous NRIs settled in US and UK, including the famed Hollywood filmmaker Ashok Amritraj.
Sridevi started acting at a tender age of four when she appeared as a child artist in a Tamil movie 'Kandhan Karunai'. She was later seen in Malyalam film 'Kumara Sambhavan' in 1969, next in 1975 release smash-hit 'Julie' and then in a Telugu movie 'Bangarakka' in 1977.
After appearing in several tollywood films alongside the superstars of South Indian cinema, Srivedi starred in a leading role in her first Hindi film, ‘Solva Saawan’ released in the year 1978. Sridevi appeared in successful films like ‘Himmatwala’,’ Tohfa’, ‘Mawaali’ and ‘Justice Chaudhury ‘opposite top bollywood actor Jeetendra.
Sridevi’s groundbreaking performance was seen in the critically acclaimed ‘Sadma’ opposite Kamal Hasan that earned her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination. Sridevi ruled the Bollywood box office and hearts of millions of her fans during Eighties with blockbuster movies like ‘Justice Chowdhary’, ‘Jaani Dost’, ‘Mawaali’, ‘Maqsad’, ‘Tohfa’, ‘Karma’, ‘Aakhree Raasta’, ‘Jaanbaaz’, ‘Ghar Sansar’, ‘Nagina’, ‘Mr India’, ‘Suhagan’, ‘Aulad’ and ‘Chaalbaaz’.
Sridevi received her first Filmfare Best actress Award for her successful portrayal of twins in 1988 smash hit ‘Chaalbaaz’. She won critical accolades for her performances in Yash Chopra’s ‘Chandni’ opposite Rishi Kapoor and ‘Lamhe’ opposite Anil Kapoor.
Sridevi appeared in a few commercially successful films during nineties including ‘Khuda Gawah’ opposite Amitabh Bachchan, award winning Telugu film ‘Kshana Kshanam’, Mahesh Bhatt's critically acclaimed ‘Gumrah’ alongside Sanjay Dutt and Rahul Roy, ‘Laadla’ and ‘Judaai’ opposite Anil Kapoor. Sridevi last appeared in the 1997 release ‘Judaai’ after which she took a respite from Bollywood to raise her children.
Sridevi appeared on television in Sahara’s popular sitcom series ‘Malini Iyer’ and later as a judge in TV show ‘Kaboom’. Sridevi’s phenomenal medley performance was seen at the coveted Filmfare Awards ceremony in 2007. Sridevi and Boney Kapoor appeared on Salman Khan’s game show ’10 Ka Dum’ aired on Sony Entertainment Television to promote their film ‘Wanted’. The couple was joined by director Prabhudeva, actress Ayesha Takia and the music composer duo Sajid-Wajid.
Sridevi is among the board of directors at the Asian Academy of Film & Television. Sridevi was received four Filmfare Best Actress Awards and six nominations in the same category. Moreover she was honored with the FICCI "Living Legend in Entertainment" award in 2008 and received special honor at the Cairo International Film Festival in 2009.
Known for her passion for art, Sridevi’s paintings have been selected by a reputed international art auction house, Christie’s. The auction that begins in April this year is aimed at raising funds for charitable institutions.
